What did Einstein say to Oppenheimer? ›

In the final scene, Oppenheimer asks him: “When I came to you with those calculations, we thought we might start a chain reaction that would destroy the entire world”, to which Einstein replies: “I remember it well. What of it?”. Oppenheimer replies; “I believe we did.”

How much of Oppenheimer is true? ›

Heavily based on "American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer" by Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin, the movie stays pretty faithful to the man's eventful, unusual life. But that doesn't mean there aren't some exaggerations or inconsistencies.

Why is Oppenheimer rated R? ›

The R rating for Oppenheimer was earned through heavy themes, sex scenes, nudity, and mature language throughout the movie. Christopher Nolan ventured into new territory with Oppenheimer by delivering his most adult film, featuring graphic sex scenes and nudity.

Is Oppenheimer boring or slow? ›

This movie is very interesting and very thrilling. Since this movie had no action and was mostly just a documentary and was 3 hours long, I though that it was going to be boring. But, the 3 hours went by very fast and had me at the edge of my seat the whole time.

Why was Oppenheimer so skinny? ›

The star told The New York Times that he wanted to bring a physical performance to the role, saying: "I love acting with my body, and Oppenheimer had a very distinct physicality and silhouette, which I wanted to get right." He pointed out that the scientist had a slim frame due to his diet, which meant losing weight.

What was Oppenheimer's IQ? ›

What happened to Oppenheimer's daughter? ›

Two years after Robert's death in 1967, Toni was rejected from a role in the United Nations as a translator. She struggled to cope with losing her father, and her job, and after living on the island of St. John for a while, she died by suicide in January 1977, just a month after she turned 32.

What did Truman think of Oppenheimer? ›

You just don't go around bellyaching about it,” Truman said, according to the book Robert Oppenheimer: A Life Inside the Center by Ray Monk. He called Oppenheimer a “cry-baby scientist” and said, “I don't want to see that son of a b–– in this office ever again.”

Was Oppenheimer a good person? ›

There's not an easy answer for this. Oppenheimer helped make the atomic bomb, but he also helped end World War II. By many accounts, Oppenheimer was a well-intentioned, complicated and conflicted man, as Nolan's movie will likely show. He may have not defined himself as a good person.

Was Oppenheimer a genius? ›

Hollywood movie aside, just how good a physicist was Oppenheimer? Hacker News. Oppenheimer was a genius, but his superpower was being good at both theoretical and practical physics. He did Nobel-prize level work and also ran the Manhattan Project.

How gory is Oppenheimer? ›

'Oppenheimer' is no gore fest but a serious exploration of a perilous time in human history. While the threat of nuclear weapons lingers, films like this will continue to be topical and relevant.

What made Oppenheimer so good? ›

Oppenheimer uses non-linear storytelling to bounce between the time that Murphy's character spent working on the bomb, his earlier career, and his later run-ins with the House of Un-American Activities Committee. At three hours, Oppenheimer is long even compared to Nolan's other movies.

What are people saying about the Oppenheimer movie? ›

The screenplay is dense and layered (I'd say it was a thick as a Bible), cinematography is quite stark and spare for the most part but imbued with rich, lucious colour in moments (especially scenes with Florence Pugh), the score is beautiful at times but mostly anxious and oppressive, adding to the relentless pacing.

Did the movie Oppenheimer get good reviews? ›

“Oppenheimer” is a great achievement in formal and conceptual terms, and fully absorbing, but Nolan's filmmaking is, crucially, in service to the history that it relates.

Is Oppenheimer Oscar worthy? ›
