Shanna Moakler says she competed with 'narcissist' Travis' parenting (2024)

Shanna Moakler got candid about her ex Travis Barker and his new wife Kourtney Kardashian welcoming a baby together last November.

The 49-year-old former model said she was 'happy' for the Blink-182 drummer and the POOSH founder during Friday's appearance on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live- but later hinted at past issues over their own parenting experience.

'I'm happy for him, he's in a good place,' the blonde bombshell began, before adding that her daughter Alabama, 18, and son Landon, 20, whom she shares with Travis, were enjoying their time with their new little brother Rocky.

'The kids love baby Rocky, my daughter is obsessed with him, she sends me cute pictures and stuff,' Shanna added.

When asked if she congratulated Travis after Rocky arrived, Shanna replied, 'I did, yes.'

However, she admitted she did not send a baby gift to the couple.Despite that, Shanna said the exes 'get along' at the moment.

'He's doing great, they're all great, but I don't know anything about their world,' she said of Travis and Kourtney.

Shanna then went on to say that she and Travisused to have a 'competition' over who was the better parent to their children:Travis is also a stepfather to Shanna's 24-year-old daughter Atiana with Oscar De La Hoya

'But I gave up, I was never really trying to compete. I gave that up a long time ago,' she explained. 'I was like, "You win. Like you're the winner."'

'I think it really comes from like when you're dealing with like a narcissist or you're dealing with a controlling personality,' she added.

She acknowledged that Barker is a 'very powerful famous person,' which made it hard to 'compete on that level.'

The podcast appearance echoed Shanna's previous comments about Travis' parenting.

In January, the modelaccused her ex of wooing their children with expensive gifts and experiences she cannot afford.

She also accused him of having a 'drinking problem' and addiction on Bunnie XO's Dumb Blonde podcast.

She fumed: 'He did me pretty dirty. His drinking is a problem. His womanizing, his addiction.'

She accused Travis of 'parental alienation' when he got together with Kourtney.

She moaned: 'You're disgusting. I removed myself so that they couldn't bond with my children over hating me.

'Go do what you guys need to do and when you're ready, I will be here loving you unconditionally,' she said.

'And I will be here as your mother, and I will wait. And that's what I did.

'There are people that don't like that family, don't watch their show and don't give a [damn] what Kim [Kardashian] is doing with her [butt].'

Shanna - who was married to Travis from 2004 to 2008 - claims Travis uses his wealth to impress his children and make out he is the better parent.

She continued: 'When Travis got with Kourtney, there was some parental alienation going on there, where Travis — even when we weren't together — always wanted to be the "super dad."

''I'm the best parent. I'm the this and that," and I'm like, Bro, you win. Like, you're the winner here. You have all the money and you have all this. You're the winner.'

And she believes her children were 'caught up' in the famous family's 'glitter and fame' that she can never compete with.

She went on: 'I think there was a lot of glitter and fame and they watched them on TV and now their dad is dating one and they're going to be on the show. And I think they got caught up in that, which young kids would do.

'They're buying them Prada, and they're buying them gifts, and they're going to these events and they're meeting Kanye and, you know, all this big stuff.

'I can't give them that. I don't have that. I don't have access to that. I don't have the money to do that. I can't buy you guys Prada every other week and stuff. I don't. I can't do it.'

She added: 'My house isn't a mansion like Travis'. I don't have a movie theatre. I don't have golf carts for you kids to drive.'

Kourtney also shares three kids - Mason, Penelope and Reign - with ex Scott Disick.
